What our guests say about us!

This lodge (Mollothaba Lodge) in Black Rhino Private Game Reserve is definitely more than 5 star…. Perhaps 6/7 star… Well done Mollothaba… The lodge has its own game Ranger, game viewing vehicle, and 5 chalets with a common central area…. It has its own pool, jacuzzi, pool table…. The decor is exquisite…. The game ranger Riaan is brilliant! He taught us so much about the animals, their behaviour, and the bush! He even cooked breakfast for us at one of the rest stops on our morning game drive. This lodge is ideal for a friends/family gathering as it is a single party booking experience…. This is as good as its gets folks…. You will never regret your stay at Mollothaba Game Lodge, Black Rhino Private Game Reserve.

We had an experience of a lifetime. This is not your average game lodge experience. The experience is personal and intimate, with friendly service and a very knowledgeable ranger to guide you. The chalets are neat, tidy, and clean – giving us peace of mind during these times. One should also take a moment to look up into the skies when you’re here to take in the beauty of the starry skies! This lodge is nestled within the Black Rhino Reserve, a part of the Pilanesburg that is less traveled and we had so many close encounters with the Big 5!

My family and I had an amazing time at Mollothaba for far too short but well needed mid week break. My wife loved every single game drive and ranted about all the wildlife she got to see, she also complimented Riaans knowledge of the fauna and flora.
Our son was very well provided for despite him being over a year old.

Loved our stay at Mollothaba. Having the lodge to ourselves, our own vehicle and ranger was amazing. Feels like a million miles away from anywhere yet close to JHB.

MolloThaba was just what our family needed. From the moment we got there the staff were warm and friendly and throughout our stay they were happy to attend to any need that arose. The pool area is where we spent most of our days when we weren’t on the game drives. We saw great game viewings – Lion cubs, a Cheetah kill and lots of other fun animal interactions. Our ranger was happy to be flexible with the game drives based on our kids and really did a great job making it interesting for them. As a self-catering lodge, it is equipped with more than you need to make your stay enjoyable. We can’t wait to go back again for another stay.

We simply loved this special place, together with its professional and friendly staff. Together they provided us with a truly magical escape to the African bush while enjoying the luxury and safety of Mollo Thaba nestled on the slopes of the Pilansberg. Although a large group we were effortlessly accommodated both in the chalets, the lodge and, of course, the multiple game drives. We were very grateful to Riaan for his knowledgeable reading the game situations – it’s not often that a full blown rhino charge results in nothing more than multiple amazing photos and a truckload of chattering guests simultaneously debriefing their excitement. We added an extra potjiekos treat under the stars, prepared for us by the staff, for an even more memorable evening bushveld experience. Breakfasts on the morning game drives enabled us to venture further into the park before returning to the rest and tranquility of the lodge, our chalets and the poolside. Highly, highly recommended.

This time last weekend we were enjoying the wonderful Mountain View Chalets at MolloThaba Lodge with friends from Johannesburg. There were 6 of us and each couple enjoyed having a wonderful comfy chalet with our own bathrooms and gorgeous outdoor showers – beautifully appointed. And in the middle the main lodge with everything you could ask for – large dining table, fully equipped kitchen, bar area, pool table to enjoy in the evening and a comfy lounge with large flat screen TV with DSTV so the men could keep up-to-date with sport. Outdoors – wonderful eating area and the best the Boma for making a fire and cooking our braai and a swimming pool to relax beside and cool off in. In the lodge, we had the help of the housekeeper, Elizabeth who tidied up after us quietly. And included in our stay were 2 game drives a day – Emma took us out on different routes including one morning following the route from the Black Rhino Reserve to the main Pilansberg reserve down a wonderful valley to a picnic sight with a magnificent view for our morning coffee and snacks. On the way back we saw a pride of lions enjoying a recent kill – very special. Emma was a great game ranger – managing to drive down all the dirt roads while stopping to spot animals and birds and knowledgeable on the Reserve and game there. A wonderful weekend break and thank you for Jacqui for arranging it all for us seemlessly. Wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you!

I had the absolute pleasure of spending a weekend at Mollothaba a short while ago. I have always considered myself as a bush baby and will leap at any opportunity to spend quality time in the wild. This coupled with an unhealthy addiction to photography make for interesting companions at Mollothaba. It is extremely rare in my experience to have someone like Riaan at the helm taking us out on the game drives. His knowledge of the environment, fauna and flora are unsurpassed but more importantly he is a very accomplished photographer who understands the requirements of the photgraphers on board. The attention to detail with regard to animal behaviour, direction of light, unique photo opportunities and endless patience made for 3 amazing photo opportunities which yielded fantastic results. In all my bush travels I can honestly say that Riaan provided my best opportunities for photography on a game drive. I can highly recommend his services and look forward to the next time I am visiting. Sitting around the camp fire, enjoying the night sky and absorbing the sounds of the bush all make for an unforgettable bush experience
    Thank you MolloThaba

I am compelled to forward this to you after spending THE GREATEST week of my life at your spectacular Lodge, for my 70th birthday.

I have been to many five star lodges and have to say your Lodge in the Black Rhino Reserve in the Pilanesberg, stands head and shoulders above all the others, by some distance.

The magnificently appointed air-conditioned rooms, beautifully appointed bathrooms and spectacular outside shower and the whole luxurious set up and setting are all beyond fantastic. I had the singularly spectacular experience of an outside hot shower in the rain!

Riaan was absolutely brilliant from start to finish, from early morning Game Drives to sunset cocktails, all his vast knowledge, safety compliance and his all round “ Can do” attitude was truly wonderful.
Jacqui in her quite reserved but highly professional way was there whenever we needed her.
Lizzi, the quiet, working machine, returning the entire Lodge to “perfect” every day was amazing.
Rocky every morning silently going about his duties cleaning, tidying, assisting in set ups and take downs, also amazing.
